On June 26th, 2023 SOF CBRN Soldiers conducted an airborne operation as a commemorative jump for SFC Jeremiah “JW” Johnson at Fort Leonard in order to honor SFC Jeremiah “JW” Johnson and to kick-off the 105th anniversary of the Chemical Corps. SFC Johnson was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star with “V” Device, and later the Silver Star for heroic actions in Niger in 2017 while assigned 14th Chemical Reconnaissance Detachment, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne). In 2022, he was inducted into the Chemical Corps’ Hall of Fame. Each year, members of his former unit conduct an Airborne jump into Fort Leonard Wood during the Chemical Corps Regimental Week in order to honor his heroic actions and tremendous sacrifice.
